Your face has muscles, too, so why wouldn’t you want to exercise them? The face consists of voluntary-striated skeletal muscles that respond to toning exercises. Consider 10 facial muscle exercises you can do at home.
1. Outer Eye Lid Presses
The goal is to reduce puffiness around the eyes, skin bagging and eyelid drooping. Just press you middle fingers softly on the outer corners of your eyelids and then attempt to open and close them repeatedly.
2. V-Press
Similar to the outer eyelid presses but with your forefingers pressed together in the space between your eyebrows, as well to make a “V” shape with your fingers. Pull your lips over your teeth to make an “O.” Now, squint by lowering your eyelids and hold. Repeat several times.
3. The Big Frown
Return your fingers to the V Press position but this time press your mouth into the biggest frown you can manage. Hold the frown for three seconds and then repeat. This exercise can help prevent crow’s feet.
4. The O
The O exercise help strengthens the muscles around the mouth and on the neck. Smile wide enough, so your teeth show and form an “O” with your lips to cover them. Hold for three seconds and repeat.
5. Face Balloon
Inhale deeply puffing out your cheeks and hold your breath. Bounce the air back and forth from one cheek to the other for several second them slowly exhale. Repeat up to 10 times or until your cheeks feel tired.
6. The Fake Scream
You might call this one a surprised look, too. The point is to stretch almost every muscle in your face at once. Push your eyebrows up, open your mouth as if you are going to scream, widen your eyes and hold your breath. You’ll feel this one in your abs, too.
7. The Forehead Spread
Place the fingers of both hands flat on your forehead. The tips of one set of fingers should touch the tips on the other hand. Think of your forehead as dough you are about to kneed when positioning your hands.
Press your fingers down lightly and then pull toward your ears. Relax your hands and then repeat the exercise several times. The goal is to smooth the skin and prevent forehead creases
8. Eye Flirt
Place one index finger under each eye below the hollow. The tip of each finger is pointing toward the nose. Fold your top lip over your bottom and then flutter your eyelids for thirty seconds. This exercise can keep eyebrows from drooping.
9. Exaggerated Smile
This move works all the muscles in the face to tighten the skin. Make a big smile then press your lower lip up until your nose wrinkles. Hold that pose for three seconds then pucker your lips and tug on your chin for five seconds. Repeat 10 or more times.
10. Tongue Press
The Tongue Press works a muscle you probably have never heard of, but it is critical to maintaining a youthful-looking jawline. Tip your head back, so you are looking at the ceiling then press your tongue against the roof of your mouth. You should feel a pull on the muscles in your neck if you are doing it right.
These kinds of exercises might not burn many calories, but they will give the muscles in your face a real workout.
